Ceramic Pro PPF & Vinyl allows for easy and consistent installation. This goes for the base coat PPF & Vinyl as well as for the top coat, PPF & Vinyl Top. As with most projects of this sort, prep and drying time are both keys to a successful application. Watch the video below for a demonstration. Detailed installation instructions are after the video.
How to install Ceramic Pro PPF & Vinyl
You’ll need the following items:
- Rubber Gloves – This is a MUST
- 1 Bottle of Ceramic Pro-Film
- 4 Microfiber Towels
- 1 Microfiber Sponge
- 1 Bottle of 70% Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol
- Infrared Heat Lamp – Not required but useful to cure at the end
Before you begin the install process, you will need to clean/prepare the film before applying the Ceramic Pro coating.
It’s best to split up large areas like hoods into 1 or 2 sections to make your install easier. Completely finish a section before moving on to another section or applying the 2nd or 3rd layers – this will allow the coating to have enough time to air cure before you apply another layer.
Step 1 – Start off by spraying a microfiber towel with undiluted 70% Isopropyl Rubbing alcohol and wiping down all the areas that will have the coating applied. Once the alcohol has dried you can now install the coating.
Step 2 – Apply 4-6 drops of Ceramic Pro PPF & Vinyl base coat to the microfiber sponge and then in smooth overlapping strokes apply the coating to the film, you will need to add more drops of the coating to the sponge as you work it into the film.
Step 3 – Once you’ve finished a section then use your next dry microfiber towel to gently smooth the film coating out, but with very light pressure. You aren’t trying to wipe off the coating, you’re just trying to smooth out the layer.
Step 4 – After you’ve smoothed the layer with the dry towel, you’ll then use your next towel, but this one needs to be damp (not soaking wet) preferably you’d use deionized water or at lest RO / filtered water to get the towel damp. You will then once again do a very light smoothing of the surface to finish the 1st layer.
Step 5 – Now use your last dry towel to once again do a light wipe down.
If you’re applying multiple layers with the base coating PPF & Vinyl, repeat steps 2-5 – Wait minimum 30 minutes between layers. DO NOT repeat step one with the alcohol!
If you have an Infrared heat lamp then it would be best to let the IR lamp cure the coating quickly (10 mins) or if you don’t have the IR lamp, then let it sit at least 1 hour before taking the car outside. Let customer know to NOT wash the car for 24 hours. If it does get wet (like from rain) then they need to wipe the car down as soon as they can to not let the water sit on the fresh coating.
